I have watched a LOT of League 1 and 2 football over the years following Brentford, until 2014 that is the only level (one year aside) that the mighty Bees had played at since 1954, which contrary to popular belief was before I was born ! 

 

 

 

 

Below is a copy of yesterday's free clubgowi newsletter, this is sent out once or twice per month to everyone in my database , it always includes an update on what has been happening at clubgowi since the last issue and usually a couple of match or event previews. Yesterday's included notes on last night's Napoli -Udinese game which finished 5-1 and a look at the League 1 playoffs which start next week. The Ligue 2 game last night played out perfectly and mirrored all those stats, being 0-0 at the break and with Toulouse scoring the only goal of the game early in the second half and hopefully we have found some other good positions to take advantage of this evening. This "middle" part of the season is when these "in play" stats tend to stand up best.

 

There is an article on the Sportmarket blog which refers to the terrible state of finances of most clubs in football and I have taken the liberty of reproducing the following couple of paragraphs which highlight how little money filters down the pyramid in the English game........
